Title: The Fall Guy
MPA Rating: PG-13
Director: David Leitch
Starring: Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Runtime: 2 hrs 6 mins

What It Is: Colt Seavers (Gosling) is a top stuntman, he’s also the exclusive choice for movie star Tom Ryder (Taylor-Johnson). After an accident nearly kills him he tries to leave the life of stunts behind. When he’s dragged BACK into Hollywood by a friend, stunt coordinator Dan Tucker (Winston Duke) some things start happening that make it look like Colt committed some crazy crime. He will do what he must to clear his name, and show that he really just might be the greatest stuntman that’s ever lived.

What We Think: This film is at it’s very essence fun. Ryan Gosling seems to be having an absolute blast. That is, honestly, so important. Without that lead having a great time this movie really wouldn’t have much else going for it. It’s not particularly well written and without the stunning level of charisma from Ryan Gosling this doesn’t have near the charm. As a couple he and Blunt work really well. I won’t lie it’s a highly action-packed if oftne ridiculous film. This is the type of film that works best in a theater setting.

Our Grade: B-, A fun, action packed film that sometimes gets in its own way. When and where it works takes you to a truly fun place. It’s appreciation for the unsung heroes of cinema that are stuntmen is also highly appreciated. Listen this is a stupid silly movie and sometimes those are just the amount of fun you want and need. Check this one out. It’s on VOD now and you don’t even really need to pay too much attention to it so it works for multiple situations. Ryan Gosling fan or not his charisma, especially here, is unmistakable.
