Title: Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
MPA Rating: R
Director: George Miller
Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke
Runtime: 2 hr 28 mins

What It Is: During Mad Max: Fury Road we are introduced to the badass imperator Furiosa, but where did she come from. In this next tale from the Mad Max universe we are told the tale of Furiosa. Not yet an imperator but a small girl from a village of much. You see in this post-Apocalyptic her village is one with food, water and sustenance. After she’s abducted from this life her saga begins and we end up with the one armed badass she’d become. This is that story.

What We Think: Saga is the best descriptor for his film. It is grand in scale and it is filled to the brim with the sort of cinematography we’ve come to expect from Dr. George Miller and his brilliant eye for filmmaking. Anya Taylor-Joy is perfect as a young Furiosa. She has this anger in her rather expressive eyes. For his part Chris Hemsworth is every bit as good as the ambitious villain Dementus (apropos name). He’s a slickster with the right amount of charisma to get us to like him even after everything he’s trying to do. As mentioned the film looks incredible. It has the right look and though it isn’t quite the film Fury Road is what film really is? This is instead a good prequel that, though not asked for, tells it’s tale, epic in scope and grand in execution.

Our Grade: A-, I enjoyed the hell out of this one! I recommend this for big fans of Fury Road or those that wanna see true Girl Power in action. The film gets a little long in the tooth at a whopping 148 mins but rarely do you feel that runtime throughout. Another testament to the work of it’s director, the brilliant George Miller. It’s on VOD now be sure to check it out it is worth the time. It’s quite an experience.
