Title: Unfrosted
MPA Rating: PG-13
Director: Jerry Seinfeld
Starring: Jerry Seinfeld, Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan
Runtime: 1 hr 37 mins
What It Is: A fictionalized narrative on the creation of one of breakfasts most interesting staple…the Pop-Tarts. Kellogg’s executive Bob Cabana (Seinfeld) discovers what rival brand Post is up to and decides that with the help of his friend Stan (McCarthy), short for Donna Stankowski they’re going to create a rival handheld breakfast food. But can they do it? Both actually and legally? These are questions that will be answered. Likewise, Kelloggs is dealing with a disgruntled mascot in Tony the Tiger (played by Huge Grant) as well as Snap (Kyle Mooney), Crackle (Mikey Day), and Pop (Drew Traver).
What We Think: This might be the biggest mess of a film that seen the light in 2024. Not only is it not very funny I think Seinfeld has never really acquired the skill of HOW to shoot a movie. Because frankly the pacing on this catastrophe is disastrous. Netflix probably saw the slew of movies based on things. Films like Blackberry, Joy, and Flamin’ Hot. All of which are about inventors inventing. This, in its attempts at satire, doesn’t really work in any way that it should.
Our Grade: D-, I laughed once. It was at Thomas Lennon, who is a very funny individual. Outside of this the film is a failure in every meaning of the word. For this I won’t quite fail it but damn was it close. Don’t watch this. Even at the peak of your boredom the brain cells lost in this pointless fiasco aren’t worth the risk here in anyway. Netflix likes to just make my life worse from time to time with these decisions. Letting Jerry Seinfeld “direct” this was a frustrating one most definitely. Skip this one at all cost. It’s very VERY unfunny and not particularly unique in the slightest.
