Title: Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Guy Ritchie
Starring: Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes
Runtime: 1 hr 54 mins

What It Is: When a mysterious item known only as “The Handle” is taken it is up to a group of government special agents to retrieve it. Led by the rather particular Nathan (Elwes) he enlists his normal rather ragtag team. There’s the head man and muscle Orson Fortune (Statham) there new tech Sarah (Plaza) and Orsons right hand man JJ (Bugzy Malone). They’re going to need help infiltrating the sellers fortress to find out what “The Handle” is and who’s buying it. They’ll bring along Hollywood movie star Danny (Josh Hartnett) to help them get there foot in the literal door. Whether he wants to or not.

What We Think: What a fun piece of action cinema. Jason Statham very rarely fails to deliver. He’s funny here as the straight man to Plaza’s out of character (for her) Sarah. The action and fight scenes are well handled but from director Guy Ritchie that is really no surprise. The man is a legend in this exact type of film. For him I think he firmly believes that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The title suggests this is but our first dip into the world of Orson Fortune and his crew. I’ll be honest I hope that’s true I’d love to see them at it again. Hugh Grant absolutely shines and pretty much steals every scene he’s in. It was nice to see Josh Hartnett back. Haven’t seen in him quite a while.

Our Grade: B-, A nice surprise. This is not something I expected to be as good as it was. I can’t wait to see if they’re gong to make more of these, that seems to be the direction. I’ll happily sit through another 2 hours with Orson and the boys. I recommend you all take the time to check it out as well.
