Title: Luck
MPAA Rating: G
Director: Peggy Holmes, Javier Abad
Starring: Eva Noblezada, Simon Pegg, Jane Fonda
Runtime: 1 hr 45 mins
What It Is: Sam (Noblezada) has always had a bit of an unlucky streak. She is about to be on her own having never found her “forever family” as a child. Her much younger friend Hazel has a potential family coming through to see her. When Sam meets a lucky cat, Bob (Pegg) she’s introduced to a land where luck, both good and bad are made. Now she’s desperate to get back home and with her take just a little bit of that good luck with her.
What We Think: Run of the mill as it gets. There’s nothing absolutely NOTHING about this film that screams must-see or need to see. Eva Noblezada is someone I had on my radar following Yellow Rose and I’m sad to say this project did nothing for her. It isn’t funny enough for older kids, adults won’t like it. It’s aimed, mainly, at preschoolers and that’s fine given it is rated G. This doesn’t work outside of entertaining a short attention span while you try to make dino nuggies in between nap time.
Our Grade: D+, Don’t do it. There’s so much to watch in this streaming era we live in. This offers nothing really for anyone who stumble bumps into this. A lot of other great animated options for your children. If you’re an adult stay away. Even from a purely animation standpoint this is old hat and looks like a Pixar production from over ten years ago. There’s so many other options you have if you’d like to watch an animated feature. AppleTV+ has better options that aren’t animated. Might I recommend Cha Cha Real Smooth instead? I promise you that’s well worth it more than this is.
