Title: Paulie Go!
MPAA Rating: Not Rated
Director: Andrew Nackman
Starring: Ethan Dizon, Madison Wolfe, Tracie Thomas
Runtime: 1 hr 26 mins

What It Is: Paulie Go (Dizon) is a brilliant scientific mind, particularly in AI. He’s also a teenager. So when he applies to work with the reclusive Dr. Chuck and finds out that he did not get into the program he heads to Northern Minnesota to find out the why. Along the way, he meets a fisherperson named Avery (Wolfe) who helps him on his quest to find the enigmatic Dr. and possibly learn a lesson or two about himself.

What We Think: This’ll get underseen but it’s a smart and fun little comedy. Very reminiscent of earlier titles that don’t have the gusto or fun of this one. Ethan Dizon is very good here as Paulie Go. The character’s youthful exuberance and clearly displayed intelligence are wonderfully put on the front foot of the character. Wolfe’s Avery is a sparkplug and such a breath of fresh air to both the main character and the audience. Nackman is going some great work. There are a ton of different atmospheres put forward. Outdoors, indoors et cetera. All of it is wonderfully tackled.

Our Grade: C+, Sometimes all you need is a fun little indie flick. This fills that void quite nicely. Come for some fine performances by young actors. Stay for the fun and interesting tale that does some things you probably wouldn’t expect. I think that’s a nice thing that you get here. You get some interesting decisions within the structure of the film. There are a lot of tropes. Those are fine. They work to an extent. It’s a hard film to find but for those that seek it out, you’re in for quite a fun little treat to be fair.
