Title: Palm Trees and Power Lines
MPAA Rating: Not Rated
Director: Jamie Dack
Starring: Lily McInerny, Gretchen Mol, Jonathan Tucker
Runtime: 1 hr 50 mins

What It Is: Lea (McInerny) is a young girl who feels disconnected from her classmates. She’s not really interested in the boys at school and the girls are not the friendliest. So when she happens upon the much older Tom (Tucker) it isn’t a wonder the two hit it off. Sadly whatever Lea thought Tom’s intentions were or are they aren’t what they seem to be. Unfortunately, she will discover this at the wrong time but is it really too late.

What We Think: This film is gross. It’s disgusting and not worth your time. There’s a certain level of cringe induction that I will take. This film filled that quota and assured that my cups runneth over. I hate the script for this movie. It’s all too much. I won’t go too far into it but rest assured the entire film WILL leave you feeling totally gross. I felt like I needed a shower after this. Heavy trigger warnings for predatory behavior and sexual situations for a character that is suppose to be a minor. Perhaps I missed the intentions here but I felt actively uncomfortable whilst watching.

Our Grade: F, I hated this movie. I hated it with most every fiber of my being. It gelt manipulative and gross. I felt like a fly on a wall in a situation I didn’t wanna witness. Perhaps that was the point of it all? Perhaps this was a horror movie made for real life. One that puts the audience in a place of actual real life demons. Somehow though I don’t think that was the films intention. I cannot and will not recommend this film to any one,. 100% skip it!
