Title: See You Then
MPAA Rating: Not Yet Rated
Director: Mari Walker
Starring: Pooya Mohseni, Lynn Chen, Danny Jacobs
Runtime: 1 hr 14 mins

What It Is: Naomi (Chen) and Kris (Mohseni) are old flames. Kris dumped Naomiin a break up that she never saw coming. Now a decade seperated from that Naomi has a husband and kids and Kris is a totally different person. Now the two will talk about those changes and how one and other came to be a part of those changes. Throughout we’ll get to know about Kris’ transition journey as well as how motherhood and marriage have changed Naomi.

What We Think: Lynn Chen is an incredible actress and here she continues to flex her muscles in the best ways possible. Pooya Mohseni is more then up to the task of matching her though. The acting here is excellent and it has to be because Walker is leaving the production alone and letting the script and the actors craft something excellent. She does what a great director should. She lets the scenes breath. Working her cuts like some sort of conversation control. It’s exactly what this dialogue needed. I mean she wrote…so she’d know right?

Our Grade: A-, This movie was so dang good. It works as a sort of modern My Dinner with Andre save for taking place in multiple places. What makes this an incredibly good experience is the honesty that the characters have with one and other. Their vulnerabilities are laid bare and given a realistic feel. These aren’t characters…they’re real people, with real issues and they’re discussing them. That’s the biggest compliment one can pay any writer. That their characters fly off the page and plummet gracefully into the real world. If you’re fortunate enough to see this film you have to do so. It’s excellent.
