Title: I’m Fine (Thanks for Asking)
MPAA Rating: Not Yet Rated
Director: Kelley Kali, Angelique Molina
Starring: Kelley Kali, Wesley Moss, Deon Cole
Runtime: 1 hr 30 mins

What It Is: Danny (Kali) is living in the deserts of Los Angeles trying to make it work for herself and her young daughter. During the school day, her daughter goes to a friend’s house while she attempts to survive in a time of COVID-19. Rollerblading across LA to either hair appointments or food deliveries. All the while living with the fact that her beloved husband has passed away and she’s only a few hundred bucks short of getting them out of this situation.

What We Think: Kelley Kali is an outstanding talent. She and Angelique Molina (who wrote the film alongside Roma Kong as well) show a deft eye behind the lens. Kali is an enthralling and beautiful force in front of it. Her realness is evident throughout and she gives Danny untold amounts of reality that many screenwriters and directors would kill for. Los Angeles, and moreover the living situations of the city play almost like a villain. Working against Danny’s best interest. The honesty and bravery of everything just permeate throughout.

Our Grade: A, This was a fabulous way to begin what you will soon see was a terrific journey through South by Southwest. I cannot wait to share it with you. I especially cannot wait for you all to see this wonderful film. It’s something that is sadly poignant for 2021 and will hit you in all the correct places. This was is such a wonderfully done and personal film that I think any mother struggling to make it happen for her family will relate to Danny and her plight. Check this one out immediately when it is released. You will not regret this.
