Title: Trolls: World Tour
MPAA Rating: PG
Director: Walt Dohrn, David P. Smith
Starring: Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Bloom
Runtime: 1hr 30 mins

What It Is: The sequel to Trolls a surprise blockbuster for Dreamworks. Here our colorful protagonists are told the tale of how they came to be. Once upon a time Trolls of all musical taste lived together. That is until those differing opinions lead to conflict. Now each type of music has taken their string and gone their own way. Princess of the Hard Rock Trolls Barb (Bloom) intents to start a World Tour and unite all the types of music, but her intentions are not sincere in the least bit. Now the new Queen of the Pop Troll Poppy (Kendrick) wants to try and talk to Barb about this. What will become of that situation?

What We Think: To my surprise, this isn’t a complete and utter mess. Quite the contrary this is a fun little animated film. One that falls short in storytelling because it just sort of lets itself fall into line. Still, the infectious soundtrack features all the hits to keep you and your children dancing in your living room. I think that’s the film’s entire goal. So in that, it is a success. As a film though it is quite clear what it’s going for.

Our Grade: C+, Fun, and featuring addictive earworm songs this is a completely harmless kids film that the whole of your family will enjoy. You can rent this anywhere you watch VOD normally. Do so it’s funny enough to keep your children’s attention, which is saying something. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least bit if there’s a third film in this particular franchise. I mean this is a moneymaker for Dreamworks. So much so they managed to piss off AMC Theatres.
