Title: 10 Things We Should Do Before We Break Up
MPAA Rating: Not Yet Rated
Director: Galt Niederhoffer
Starring: Christina Ricci, Hamish Linklater, Lindsey Broad
Runtime: 1 hr 14 mins

What It Is: Abigail (Ricci) is a mother of two and rarely gets to go out and have fun for herself. When she’s set up on a blind date with the somewhat neurotic Benjamin (Linklater). When this results in Abigail becoming pregnant now the two are seeing whether to try and make it work, get rid of the baby or will Abigail attempt to add one more spinning plate on her already full kitchen table of life.

What We Think: Linklater and Ricci have some nice chemistry which, in this sense, is of the utmost importance. Some of the plot moments are cringe. To a degree that it’s almost inexcusable. I really laughed more than I thought I would here. Even as Hamish Linklater’s Benjamin is an irrefutable dick. There’s a sort of charm to it all. That charm and sensibility pour through director Galt Niederhoffer’s script. It utilizes everything it has to craft a little rom-com with enough quirk and character building to hold attention throughout the brisk 74-minute runtime.

Our Grade: B+, Short but sweet. This is a film that’s tailor-made for the current state of the world. It’s got its heart in the right place. It makes you feel good and features performances that are realistic and fun. With everything going on in this world there’s really not much more you can ask of a film than to make you forget whats going on. I for sure give this small indie a recommendation. I went in with no expectation. Hell, I didn’t even know what this was and I walked away happy with what I did get. Check it out on VOD now!
