Title: Buffaloed
MPAA Rating: Not Yet Rated
Director: Tanya Wexler
Starring: Zoey Deutch, Jai Courtney, Judy Greer
Runtime: 1 hr 35 mins

What It Is: Peg (Deutch) has always been an ambitious woman. Wanting to get out of Buffalo, NY in the worst way. She’ll also do whatever it takes to finally do so. When she’s arrested for a petty crime she learns a lesson. Not one she takes to heart though. When a bill collector calls and the call center is in Buffalo Peg thinks she’s found the answer…and, of course, it’s conning those that owe a debt into paying it. Those consequences, however, aren’t as cut and dry as they seem.

What We Think: Zoey Deutch continues to impress even when the material isn’t at its peak. Jai Courtney, who I have trashed pillar to post in the past must’ve been putting in extra work at the acting gym he’s actually great here. The story has some problems for sure. But it is one that moves through its 95 minutes nice and breezy. Tanya Wexler makes it looks easy directing this and that’s a testament to her abilities. This is though very much the Zoey Deutch shows above all else

Our Grade: C-, This is a fun movie. I think that most audiences will have two very adverse reactions. They’ll either hate every character in this film or somehow relate to the middle America feel that the Buffalo, NY setting gives it. Honestly, if you’re stuck in the house and you want to watch something this is it. It’ll at least feel like the 95 minutes floated right by. So if this tickles your curiosity ( I know I’m mixing euphemisms) then for sure check it out. If not there’s a plethora of things to check out right now and a little too much time to do so.
