Title: Riot Girls
MPAA Rating: Not Yet Rated
Director: Jovanka Vuckovic
Starring: Madison Iseman, Paloma Kwiatkowski, Munro Chambers
Runtime: 1 hr 22 mins

What It Is: After a mysterious illness leads to the death of all the adults the children take over. With a bridge separating the rich Titans on the west side from the east sides poorer punk rock kids. When the leader of the east side Jack (Alexandre Bourgeois) gets lost behind enemy lines it’ll be up to his sister Nat (Iseman) and her best friend Scratch (Kwiatkowski) to save him from the clutches of the Titans stronghold (the high school) and their nefarious leader Jeremy (Chambers).

What We Think: Imagine if Brick was made into some sort of pseudo-horror movie. Here the soundtrack is endlessly charming and chock full of punk rock bangers. When discussing the script there’s some great about the simplicity of the story. Take gang warfare and stick it in an alternate 1995. Some of the acting is spotty in parts but overall it’s a well written, well-told story. Paloma Kwiatkowski is the obvious standout here. Her Scratch is the most interesting character and one I think audiences will hook themselves on to. Vuckovic’s direction is good and really makes me look forward to whatever she does next.

Our Grade: B+, Oh yeah! This one hits in mid-September and it is ONE TO SEE! I actually really can’t wait to get my hands on the soundtrack for this one. In the meantime, I completely recommend you check this one out when it drops. In the meantime, if you aren’t a punk rock fan…well check some of it out! Also Munro Chambers, who plays Jeremy in this is in the WONDERFUL throwback action romp Turbo Kid and he’s freakin’ awesome! Special shotuout to Fantasia Fest 2019 for letting us check this one out!
