Title: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse
MPAA Rating: PG
Director: Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman
Starring: Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld
Runtime: 1 h 57 mins

What It Is: Miles Morales (Moore) is a high school student who loves hip-hop and the occasional graffiti art. Leaving his tag wherever he can. When he is exploring an abandoned subway tunnel with his uncle Aaron (Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali) they begin to create art. When he returns the next day to find a spider that bit him he meets Peter Parker (Chris Pine)…and well the universe will never be the same. Thanks to the Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) and his supercollider.

What We Think: This might just be the best animated film of the year! Everything here is pure Spidey. Getting to hear Nicholas Cage as Spider-man Noir was just fantastic. Likewise, the use of multiple characters in the Spiderverse works incredibly well. All of the voice acting is superb here and Shamiek Moore (Dope) is stellar. For me, the show-stealer here is the animation. It is absolutely gorgeous! Looking closest to the style of a comic book there’s truly no film that looks like this. In a few months, I expect this to not just receive a nomination but win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Our Grade: A+, Nothing else to say and don’t @ me! This film is fantastic, fun and full of energy! Feeling like a comic book animated at high speed. Do I recommend this? How do I say this louder…DUH? It’s fun for the entire clan. From the smallest of children to grandma and grandpa. With its vibrant and lively colors, it is both a crowd pleaser and a tear jerker in some parts. Also, I want Jake Johnson to be MY Spiderman, he fits the role perfectly…even if the costumes a bit snug eh?
