Review: Mission Impossible – Fallout

Title: Mission Impossible: Fallout
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Starring: Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson
Runtime: 2 hr 27 mins

What It Is: Ethan Hunt (Cruise) is back at it again! This time a shadow terrorist organization is threatening global war when a set of bombs are set to go off at three important points in the world. When the plot is unveiled it is up to Ethan and his crew to stop this from happening. With the help or interference from special agent August Walker (Cavill) and the return of an old friend Hunt’s IMF once again has a mission…should he choose to accept it.

What We Think: These are the types of films we need more of. Tom Cruise kicks some much ass in this! How is it that, perhaps, our best action star is in his 50’s? It’s not just the action set pieces (of which there are plenty) that pop off the screen the plot is great and keeps you vested throughout. That’s a thing that several action films just cannot balance. To be both damned interesting and ridiculously fun. Ferguson once again shows she kicks all manner of ass. Cavill is at his freaking best here. McQuarrie is the first director to take a second stab at this series and, much like last time, he nails it.

Our Grade: A-, Well holy crap. After the brilliant Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and stunning Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation this is a series that unlike The Fast and the Furious just keeps getting better. How is it that as Cruise gets older he seems bound and determined to up himself with each passing film. The final sequence of this film is one of the years best and it is for sure a pulse-pounder. I cannot recommend more highly that you watch this.
