Title: Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Sam Liu
Starring: Christian SlaterVanessa WilliamsBilly Brown
Runtime: 1 hr 26 mins

What It Is: Amanda Waller (Williams) is in need of the services of Task Force X, better known as The Suicide Squad. In this incarnation, we have Deadshot (Slater) leading with Bronze Tiger (Brown), Killer Frost (Kristin Bauer van Straten), Copperhead (Gideon Emery), Liam McIntyre (Capt. Boomerang) and of course Harley Quinn (Tara Strong). They’re trying to retrieve a mystical item from the immortal Vandal Savage. But the Squad isn’t the only one after that.

What We Think: This is above average for their animated fair and certainly better than some of the recent fair by Liu. I just don’t know about this R-rated thing. Sometimes it can work as with the previous Suicide Squad animated venture Batman: Assault on Arkham and sometimes it just doesn’t, I’m looking at you Batman: The Killing Joke. Slater brings Deadshot to life quite well Strong is always fun as Harley. Overall the story is fine, if unspecatacular. I liked the voice acting it was fine. These type of films tend to blend together. I think that because it’s always Liu behind the camera. Let’s get some other people behind the camera, please.

Our Grade: C+, It’s not very good but not altogether bad. It’d vanilla ice cream. There’s not much to grab onto. I’ll recommend it, if only slightly. Like if you enjoy most of the other animated stuff you’ll like this. There really isn’t much else to say here. Blase, with enough good vocal performances to keep you interested. Oh! And some really cool fight scenes. So if you want to see that then for sure check this one out. If not there like so SO many more of these that are of better quality.
