Title: Strawberry Flavored Plastic
MPAA Rating: Not Rated
Director: Colin Bemis
Starring: Aidan BristowNicholas UrdaAndres Montejo
Runtime: 1 hr 47 mins

What It Is: When two documentary filmmakers Errol (Urda) and Ellis (Montejo) decide to document the actions and possible motivations of the at-large serial killer Noel (Bristow). Noel is quite charming and sophisticated. He’s also a loose cannon on the loose in upstate New York. Errol and Ellis try to get footage, and Noel seems to go through the gamut of anger and emotional outbursts. All the while finding out some incredible news about his life. News that could change the killer’s life forever.

What We Think: There’s not much to say about this really. It does what it does. It works almost like a modern retelling of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer or a lesser Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. I’ll tell you this. Colin Bemis does some interesting things behind the lens. From some interesting shot selection to odd camera placements…it’s all very well put together. Some of the decision-making narratively is questionable but we’ll leave that to the writing. Aidan Bristow gives a truly charming performance. He’s charismatic as all hell. Definitely, a worthy subject is his Noel.

Our Grade: C, Will you, the audience like this film? Maybe. Will you be able to find this film? Probably not! Its got limited distribution and I only got to see it thanks to the productions grace. I’d like to thank them for that. An interesting mockumentary for sure but perhaps one that needs a little bit more seasoning. Its a very cool concept though I’ll tell you that. All things considered, check it out if you find it interesting but I won’t give it my biggest recommendation but IF you can find it check it out.
