Title: Second Nature
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Director: Michael Cross
Starring: Collette WolfeSam HuntingtonCarollani Sandberg
Runtime: 1 hr 20 mins

What It Is: Amanda is given a magic mirror, which she accidentally uses to switch gender roles in her town after an argument with Bret, her opponent running for mayor. Now stuck in this alternate reality together, they will have to find the magic mirror and use it to get out before it’s too late.

What We Think: Second Nature is nothing new. Sam Huntington and Collette Wolfe save this film from being a complete dud, they play their parts well and their chemistry is wonderful. Besides that, I couldn’t find anything to like about this film. It feels a lot like you are watching a Hallmark movie because of the style and story are1 so similar to what the channel puts out. It’s bland, silly, forgettable, and predictable. Second Nature doesn’t do anything to separate itself from the other “switching places” films, it follows almost every cliché in the book. It is also labeled as a comedy, which is surprising since I did not laugh once. Every joke felt so out of place, and the sex scenes were really unneeded. I think it would have worked better as a family film.

Our Grade: C-, Skip this one. Second Nature feels like your typical Hallmark movie, but the attempts at raunchy humor say otherwise. It just doesn’t work and I’ll probably forget about it tomorrow.
