We’ve been granted the opportunity to interview scream queen extraordinaire Victoria De Mare seen below in perhaps her most iconic role as Batty Boop in Killjoys Psycho Circus. Check out the video below and click the whole article to read our awesome moments with her.

– Thanks for allowing me to interview you Victoria! First I’d like to say that its an honor to speak with a contemporary scream queen!

Thank you!

– What is your process when preparing for a role?

I dissect whoever she is from the page based on what she says. How she sounds, talks, moves, walks, feels, looks, what she wants, everything- from the “feet up”, basically, lol.

-What’s it like to have “Batty Boop” become such a recognizable symbol in the horror space?

It’s a dream come true.  I love her dearly.  I had such an incredible experience getting the opportunity to create her & I loved “being” her.  I’m eternally grateful to John Lechago, Charles Band, & Full Moon Collectibles. The “Batty Boop” resin doll statues will be available worldwide mid-September 2017 on FullMoonDirect.com.

– On your official website you have a Thomas Wolfe quote “If a man has a talent and cannot use it, he has failed. If he has a talent and uses only half of it, he has partly failed. If he has a talent and learns somehow to use the whole of it, he has gloriously succeeded,
and won a satisfaction and a triumph few men ever know.” What’s the importance of this quote to you?

My greatest fear used to be failure.  When I first read that quote, it released that fear in me.  I make a living a what I used to “play” doing in my bedroom & bathroom when I was a little girl.  Every time I read that quote, it makes me realize I’ve already succeeded no matter what happens & it inspires me to keep going.

– Whenever we get the pleasure of interviewing an artist about their art we often like to start by asking them about what inspires. So I’ll ask what (or who) inspires you?

I love stories, so working on stories & creating characters inspires me.  And, dreaming about working with my favorite artists who inspire me also inspires me.  Musically, my inspiration is my one & only.

– What sort of films do you enjoy (no need to be specific) and if you want to go into what film means to you?

I love all genres of film from character driven dramas, to laugh out loud comedies, to period pieces, to action packed sci fi to horror.  I’m a film fan- period.  I generally watch a film a day. For two reasons, one for enjoyment because watching a film is my favorite way to relax & two to study the art of filmmaking.  Movies were one of my favorite things when I was a kid, so being in them as a career as an adult is truly a dream come true.

– If you were stranded on a desert island and could only watch two films what would they be, and why?

France’s Ford Coppola’s ‘Dracula’ starring Gary Oldman because it’s my favorite love story of all time. And, ‘Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas’ starring Johnny Depp & Benicio Del Toro because it makes me laugh thinking about my best friend.

– What’s next for you?

I’m shooting three feature films, a television series, doing a live show & finishing recording my third album courtesy of Vic Worldwide titled “#Myb*tch” slated to be released January 2018.

– Please tell people where they can find this wonderful film? Also where can they reach out to you (social media)?

Check out these movie & music releases-  ‘The Black Room’ is on Amazon & VOD. ‘The Blessed Ones’ is on Amazon, VOD, & at Family Video Stores. ‘Dracula In A Women’s Prison’ is on Vimeo OnDemand. ‘The Holy Man’ is on Amazon.  Single “Raw” & album “CanUNotTell” are on iTunes, Amazon, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, & everywhere you like to download & stream your music online.  Fans can follow me on Twitter @VictoriaDeMare, Facebook @TheVictoriaDeMare, Instagram @victoriademare & my new website victoriademare.com.
