Title: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: James Gunn
Starring: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista
Runtime: 2 hr 18 mins
What It Is: The sequel to the smash hit that was Guardians Of The Galaxy and now the Guardians are back and even better than before! The movie follows Star-Lord (Pratt) and his gang of Guardians being hired by a powerful alien race, The Sovereigns, to protect them from invaders. While protecting them, Rocket Raccoon (Cooper) steals some precious batteries and the Sovereigns race turns on them. While fighting off the Sovereigns, Peter finds about who his father was and meets him.

What We Think: This is a complete blast! It boasts a great soundtrack, well-acted characters and gives us a lot more development on them. The original film had a great soundtrack but this one tops it. each song flows well with the scene is in and doesn’t feel out of place. none of the songs are bad and are a lot of fun to listen to while the action is going down. This movie gives us a ton of character development for each and every Guardian. It makes the audience actually care about the characters and what happens to them. Ego, played by Kurt Russell is great. He fits the role and brings his A game to it. His character feels real but cliched.

Right, when I saw the trailers I was thinking “that’s too good to be true”. The jokes and comedy are all good for the most part. maybe 30% of the jokes didn’t land but for the most part, they did. when every line is basically a joke, it is too hard to get all of them to land. The CGI and special effects were all well done but there was some noticeable CGI and green screen throughout. Let’s talk about the stand out performance by Michael Rooker a Yondu. Yondu felt real and Rooker brought an amazing performance that had a hilarious one liner that can make just anybody laugh.

Our Grade: B-, Overall as a group, the acting was pretty good. While yes, Dave Bautista is just a little too over the top, he still fun to watch. How they handled Ego and Peter were well throughout but could’ve been executed better. Baby Groot was fun for the most part but did get a tad bit annoying at times. Guardians 2 is a worthy successor to its original and improves on certain things the original could’ve improved on. Its action packed and the action never lets down and is always eye catching with the special effects used. James Gunn did a great job at directing the sequel and hopefully, Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 can be as good or even better. In the end GOTG 2 is a great summer blockbuster and i’d recommend everybody to go see it.
