Title: Underworld: Blood Wars
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Anna Foerster
Starring: Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, Tobias Menzies
Runtime: 1 hr 31 mins

What It Is: Deathbringer Selene (Beckinsale) is back! This time she is working against both the council that betrayed her and the Lycans who want nothing more than her head on a platter. At the same time, David (James) is starting to realize his destiny while the current leader of the Lycans Marius (Menzies) seeks to find Selene’s daughter in hopes that her blood can give him the ultimate power, or something like that. Hard to say for sure.

What We Think: Oh boy! This film is an absolute mess! After four movies you’d think they would have this formula down, but no! Some of the dialogue that occurs within this film is some of the worst stuff to ever be dispelled out of narrative characters in this or any year. At this point, it is simply a wonder anyone thought this was a good idea. Kate Beckinsale does the best she can, and she is still pretty much the only interesting thing in this film. Theo James is an awful actor. Look no further than his “acting” in the Divergent series particularly InsurgentLastly, I’d like to mention that when you have a script like this your film is rotten to the core.

Our Grade: D, I’ll go ahead and start by requesting that audiences run as far away from this film as humanly possible. Skip it, skip it, SKIP IT! There isn’t anything here for anyone. Unless you’re super into awful looking CGI. If that applies to you you’re in luck this film is chock full of that garbage. Foerster is a former director of police procedural Criminal Minds, and somehow she got this project and has been attached to the sequel to the awesome Jake Gyllenhaal and Duncan Jones film Source Code.
