Title: Sausage Party
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Greg Tiernan, Conrad Vernon
Starring: Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill
Runtime: 1 hr 29 mins

What It Is: When Frank (Rogen) and his package of sausages prep for “red white and blue day” (The Fouth of July) a major holiday for sausages across the United States. He and his girlfriend Brenda (Wiig) a bun cannot wait to quite literally lay within one and other. As they are chosen to join the Gods (humans) in the Great Beyond. When they come to the realization of what ACTUALLY happens to food when it goes home with people.

What We Think: This is a hilarious film. Not just that but this film also has a very clever way of bringing forth social issues. Things like religion and race are spoken upon in such a way that it doesn’t feel like it’s beating you over the head with it. All, and I mean all of the voice acting is great! Several great comedic actors like Bill Hader have several characters they’re voicing and all of them are quite funny. This film deserves some credit for building an R-Rated comedy with animated food. This is by no means is an easy task.

Our Grade: B, I am going to go ahead and recommend everyone check this movie out! This is a great comedy. It struggles with some structure issues and some of the scripts work is trying a bit too hard to make itself vulgar. It’s a slippery slope when it comes to the language here. Regardless there’s some great stuff here and another genuinely great film added to the canon of Seth Rogen. His voice is so embedded into our world now that it is hard to separate Frank from Rogen. That’s another flaw but not the worst one. Great direction, good vocal talent bring this enjoyable animated film together.
