Title: Star Trek Beyond
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Justin Lin
Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban
Runtime: 2 hr 2 mins

What It Is: Our favorite crew from the SS Enterprise including Capt. James T. Kirk, Spock, and Uhura (Pine, Quinto, and Zoe Saldana) they take off into the void and discover something no one has ever seen by boldly going where no one has gone before. When they meet an enemy they were not fully prepared for not only will the Enterprise be in jeopardy but all of Star Fleet and their mission of peace as well.

What We Think: Justin Lin brings the fun back into Star Trek here. I had myself an amazing trip to the cinema with this one. That cast we know and love was spot on in their roles and Bones, whose always been my favorite, really shines here. Some of the effects are a bit spotty near the end of the film. When talking about dialogue, however, this film is absolutely awesome! There’s a freshness about the script that feels so damn refreshing. Let’s all go ahead and give Simon Pegg a hand for his double duty. Not only does he kill it as Scotty again but he wrote this script, one that I love!

Our Grade: B+, In a summer filled with crappy sequels it is so refreshing to get not only a great one but a film that surpasses the previous incarnations. This summer has also featured really terrible films. This is by no means a masterpiece but it is a damn fine film. I’m going to go ahead and give this a huge recommendation. Please, please, please catch this movie anyway possible as it deserves your money. I’m hopeful that they will make a fourth film in this series and that we can get Lin back to direct it!
