Title: Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone
Starring: Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, Sarah Silverman
Runtime: 1 hr 27 mins

What It Is: After leaving his group The Style Boyz singer Conner 4 Real (Samberg) goes solo and finds great success for the most part in his early days. When he begins to fall out of favor, which coincidentally happens to fall in line with his ego reaching a new high he’ll need a jolt to recover from his latest releases failure. Cue rapper Hunter (Chris Redd) who is the latest hot thing in the rap game. Will Conner fail or will he learn from his mistakes or will he fall even more on his face as he melts down in the public eye.

What We Think: I thought to myself as I watched this whether it would be funny or not. As the jokes began to fly fast and loose I soon realized it would not be a problem. These jokes are hilarious. A lot of them hit and when they do I was rolling. Samberg is a madman in this. Not only do the songs totally fit, they sound like something off of a new The Lonely Island release.

Our Grade: B, This is a good movie and a very funny comedy. Something that the summer movie season really needs. I’d like to see what else Samberg and his crew can do next. There’s just so much I think they can satirize. It is almost as if they don’t know what they can do to the fullest extent. I think they can do anything. One thing that threw me was just how low my expectations were and how high above this thing went. I definitely recommend this if you can catch it anywhere near you!
