Title: Mr. Right
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Paco Cabezas
Starring: Anna Kendrick, Sam Rockwell, Tim Roth
Runtime: 1 hr 30 mins

What It Is: Martha (Kendrick) has just been cheated on by her boyfriend. Now she’s confused as to what she could have done to perhaps changed this. When she bumps into a man, who is a clown-nosed assassin named Francis (Rockwell). Martha thinks this man, though strange may be the one she is meant to be with. Meanwhile, this man whose real name is Francis is on the radar of the extremely dangerous Hopper (Roth) with whom he has some sort of a history. Now as their paths collide they’ll get sucked into each others mess. All the while realizing that’s exactly where they wanna be.

What We Think: This is not a great movie. Anna Kendrick is her usual charming self and Sam Rockwell is awesome as always but the movie around them is not good. First and foremost the script really does not do what it is supposed to do. You sort of get the relationship between Martha and Francis but you don’t care at all for the events happening outside of that. This seems to be the way Sam Rockwell is going right now. He did the less than stellar Poltergeist remake as well as the indie romcom Laggies which tells a much better version of this story.

Our Grade: D, It stumbles and bumbles and just plum isn’t good. Roth is basically wasted and everyone else pretty much just seems to be wandering through this thing waiting for it to end. Director Paco Cabezas does not have a good track record and that continues here. Don’t see this one, and in fact, you can go ahead and skip it. That is unless you’re a huge fan of Kendrick or Rockwell.
