Title: Nina Forever
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Ben and Chris Blaine
Writer: Cian Barry, Abigail Hardingham, Fiona O’Shaughnessy
Runtime: 1 hr 38 mins

What It Is: Holly (Hardingham) is a young woman whose obsessed with the odd young man she works with at the grocery store. This young man Rob (Barry) has been depressed, so much so that he took his motorcycle and proceeded to run himself off the road. This is more than likely due to the death of his long-time girlfriend Nina (O’Shaughnessy). As Holly and Rob bond, there’s a strange presence that tends to surround their copulation. This presence is more familiar than they think, in fact, it’s the aforementioned ex-girlfriend Nina.

What We Think: This is a strange movie indeed. It’s a black comedy in every sense of the word. Hardingham and Barry have a creepy, weird vibe as a couple and it seems to work really well. Fiona O’Shaughnessy is brilliant in her scumminess. Not only does she portray Nina in the vilest of manners. This goes contrary to what we learn about what Nina was in life. I also really like how it went, full weirdo. Let’s let movies keep doing this! In the end, it’s enjoyable and it shouldn’t be. Great characters in a small, interesting world.

Our  Grade: B, We don’t understand why what happens to Rob and Holly is happening outside of the vague conjecture we can think up in our heads. I think that’s great! Don’t put everything out there and feed us every single point to the film. I’m going to recommend horror fans check this one out. If you aren’t a horror fan this will also prove enjoyable in that it works as an indie comedy just as well. I believe it is currently available on VOD so it can go wherever you go!
