Title: Ride Along 2
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Tim Story
Starring: Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Tika Sumpter
Runtime: 1 hr 42 mins

What It Is: The brothers-in-law are back! This time, Detective James Peyton (Cube) and gamer turned officer Ben “Black Hammer” Barber are off to Miami. In an attempt to stop an Atlanta drug dealer at his source. His source turns out is “business man” Antonio Pope (Benjamin Bratt) who hides through various methods in order to not be found out. With that help of a turncoat hacker (Ken Jeong) and local police detective Maya (Olivia Munn), they’re trying to prove the sneaky Pope a liar and show his true colors.

What We Think: Oh man I thought the first Ride Along was very very mediocre. This, this is atrocious. Not only is comedy a nonfactor, but I’m not even certain screenwriter Phil Hay and Manfredi even know what comedy is. Not only are the jokes all one note none of them are particularly funny. Somehow I managed to coherently tell you the “story” of what time film is. This is more than the film did in almost 2 hours. I freaking hate this film. Stay as far away as you can from this awful piece of garbage.

Our Grade: F, I wasn’t expecting a reinvention of the wheel, but I did not expect said wheels to fall off this thing so badly. Kevin Hart is slowly losing what little charm he had and Ice Cube has to prove to me he can take roles outside of the “mean looking cop guy” before I’ll take him seriously as an actor. What in the blue hell is Tim Story even doing still getting paid to make movies. This was some film school level fecal matter on his part. I cannot with a clean conscience recommend this to anyone…EVER!
