Title: Sisters
MPAA Rating:
R
Director:
Jason Moore
Starring:
Amy Poehler, Tiny Fey, Maya Rudolph
Runtime:
1 hr 58 mins

What It Is: When Maura (Poehler) has to tell her sister Kate (Fey) that they’re parents are selling their childhood home. They decide that perhaps one more rager is needed to allow this home to go out with a bang…or two. I mean that quite literally, they some nasty hoes. I’m kidding…kind of. Anyway, the two of them must not only prepare this party but deal with all the nostalgia of being home and in their old home. Their high school nemesis Brinda (Rudolph) is trying to crash the party at least until Kate stops her.

What We Think: It has its moments of genuinely funny, however sadly this isn’t really a comedy that has a high batting average. It strikes out more than it hits a home run. By that, it mostly bloops a single. Fey and Poehler have great chemistry and it is quite obvious these two love working with one and other. Rudolph is an absolute riot as the “villain” of sorts. There were a lot of potentials here and some of it are sadly squandered. Hopefully, whatever either lady does next will produce a better result.

Our Grade: C-, If you’re really into comedies like this check it out. I say like this because the film is exactly the one you think it is. I’d like to give a shoutout to John Cena for being pretty good in two comedies this year. He was decent here and even better in 2015’s Trainwreck where he often made me laugh more than Amy Schumer to some degree. Either way, this is comedic mediocrity if ever there was an example.  It’s wasted potential materialized which is really and truly sad. Oh well on to the next one.
