Title: Sleeping With Other People
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Leslye Headland
Starring: Alison Brie, Jason Sudeikis, Adam Scott
Runtime: 1 hr 35 mins

What It Is: Our scene is Columbia University and Lainey (Brie) is banging on the door of Matthew (Scott), to save face Jake (Sudeikis) acts as if she is his guest. This leads to the two having a great conversation revolving around the fact that both were still virgins. They decide to remedy this situation. Skip to years later and both have issues in relationships, but perhaps that is because they were wanting for each other…or not.

What We Think: This is just a great romantic comedy. Not only is this hilarious, but the magnetism from the leads is just palpable. It is that believability that lends itself well not only to the friendship between the two but helps you realize that this is a real thing between Lainey and Jake. They are truly friends, two people who are there for each other. Headland just lets the comedy breath I’ve found that often that is the huge problem with RomCom’s in the contemporary sense. Having said all that it is quite obvious, I think that Sudeikis and Brie were a freaking joy to watch.

Our Grade: A-, I never really get a happy, positive vibe from romantic comedies. That most certainly wasn’t the case here. I am going to go ahead and give a sparkling recommendation to all you fine folks out there. If you get a chance to catch this movie any way you can go ahead and do that. You’ll laugh, you might cry, but you will certainly have an excellent time at the movies. I look forward to what Headland is going to do next hopefully it is another stab and this genre because it’s one that need a breath of fresh air every once and a while.
