Title: The Escort
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Director: Will Slocombe
Starring: Lyndsy Fonseca, Michael Doneger, Bruce Campbell
Runtime: 1 hr 28 mins

What It Is: Natalie (Fonseca) is a young woman whom is happy in her current position of call girl, or so she’d have you believe. Mitch (Doneger) is a sex addicted writer whose isolation seems to just make him lonelier. As these two meet in a situation that works out perfectly for each of them they begin to realize that they are not the people you initially expect them to be. That perhaps Mitch and Natalie are more than they appear, for better or worse, as that may be.

What We Think: It’s a flawed and cliche riddled little film. From and direction standpoint it’s fair to midland, and the acting is nothing to write home about. Nonetheless it isn’t a terrible film. It’s not very good it is simply mediocre. There’s a point in the film where you realize the whole film is about to become one gigantic cliche, and then it does. So much of this could’ve been a decent romantic comedy, it really could have. This was director Will Slocombe’s big breakout and he doesn’t really impress here. Lyndsy Fonseca is admirable, but not great. Michael Doneger is utterly embarrassing. Not only is he not funny, but he seems to be without personality. His character is a loser, and not in the lovable way, more so in the way you wish he’d disappear.

Our Grade: D, I can’t really recommend this to anyone unless your a huge fan of romantic comedies. It’s fantastically tropelicious. Lack of solid direction really hurt this thing. With perhaps a more seasoned and strong-willed captain behind the lens this could have projected the feels. Someone that could have perhaps made us care more about the characters. If you’re bored and looking for something on VOD this is a good option.
