Title: Taken 3
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Olivier Megaton
Starring: Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Forest Whitaker
Runtime: 1 hr 33 mins

What It Is: Brian Mills (Neeson) is back and this time it isn’t a family member that’s been taken it’s his freedom. When someone appears to have framed Mills for the murder of his ex-wife (Famke Janssen) Mills must fight both an overzealous LAPD Detective (Whitaker) and the people who killed his wife. First he must find out who actually did it though so he can protect his daughter Kim (Grace) and clear his name. As for the detective whose after him well as Brian himself said “Good Luck!”

What We Think: Has Olivier Megaton ever made a film that wasn’t his surname’s worth of crap? Throughout the entirety of each nausea inducing action scene you can’t tell what the hell is going on in any scene. In addition they’ve officially turned Brian Mills into freaking Superman. Never do you feel like the character is in danger, and that each new wrinkle just means more dead bodies. And speaking of the story arc, oh man is it bad.Not only is it nonsensical, but it doesn’t leave you fulfilled in any way. You don’t care about what you just saw and the whole angle the Cops are playing is without reason at all.

Our Grade: D-, I’m not going to sugar coat this, this isn’t a good film at all. From Megaton’s nausea inducing action scenes, to one of the worst phone conversations ever recorded. I really wish this guy knew how to shoot action, or perhaps guide a film (two very important duties for a director). Seriously the action shots in this film just look like a hodgepodge of ridiculous arm flailing. If you really need your fix of Liam Neeson go ahead and check out A Walk Among the Tombstones  which is a much better film available now on BluRay and DVD!
