Title: Mother Schmuckers
MPAA Rating: Not Yet Rated
Director: Harpo Guit, Lenny Guit
Starring: Maxi Delmelle, Harpo Guit, Claire Bodson
Runtime: 1 hr 10 mins

What It Is: Two brothers, Issachar and Zabulon are all sorts of dumb…well no they are complete idiots. When these two lose their mother’s beloved dog they are given 24 hours to find the canine or she’s going to finally do what she maybe should’ve done a bit ago…kick them out. How will these complete morons actually find this dog? And what manner of shenanigans will they get into along the way?

What We Think: I’ll be frank. I didn’t like this film at all. It tries to play as a sort of Farrelly Brothers comedy that is 25 years too late. The brothers are super annoying and at times they are insufferable. There is almost a sort of manic pacing to everything that does, alongside the 70 minutes run time make the whole experience far from the worst. That is the saving grace of this thing. There are often times at Sundance when I wonder how the hell a film got there. This is one of those times. I disliked the dialogue. I found it so immature…even if that was the intent. Nothing here felt like it worked. I was originally at my limit after the opening scene. One look and you’d know why. But I soldiered on through an hour more of it.

Our Grade: D-, This piles up to little more then a waste of time. At not point in this does the meandering chaos coalesce into something useful or worthwhile. Instead there’s a film stuck in a time it doesn’t have the luxury of debuting in. Had this beaten Dumb and Dumber to theaters then this probably works better. In 2021 however it just comes off as annoying.
