Title: All My Life

What It Is: When Jennifer (Rothe) meets Solomon (Shum Jr.) they feel like they just fit. As the two begin to date all the stars seem to be aligning that the two are destined to be together. After he proposes to her a wedding is to be had. This is where the tragedy strikes.  Solomon falls ill. It turns out to be liver cancer. Now the young chef and his new bride must guide through something no couple should have to deal with.

What We Think: This is about as cookie-cutter as it gets. Copy-paste and repeat sort of deal. Normally I’d be all over this but this one. It just…it’s really sort of nonsensical. I understand it is based on a true story but it’s so saccharine and lame. Everything feels really plastic and fake. I did not enjoy where this predicably went. I did not appreciate how…sweet this was given where it all ends up. I dont know. I suppose I felt patronized. Without a doubt I am the person you’d wanna aim something like this at…it just didn’t hit for me. Meyers direction was…meh. There’s nothing here to really seperate it from a sea of much better romantic films from 2020.

Our Grade: D+, Lackluster films are never going to win over this fickle critic. Especially when they’re in a genre that many, including myself, would consider my wheelhouse. I had high hopes going in and the bland storytelling just didn’t do it for me. Skip it. It isn’t really worth your time and not something you need to go out of your way to seek. Shoutouts do go to Anjali Bhimani who I am a huge fan of. She’s normally a voiceover artist and deserves to be in better films then this.
