What It Is: Wesley (Pedrad) has a…less then stellar dating record. After a date with Sean (Morris) is a disaster she has a freak accident. When Jared (Robbie Amell) is there to help her in her time of need. This is their meet-cute. As they begin to know one another they start to click. But when Wesley doesn’t get a call back from Jared after a wonderful night she leaves him a terrible email. When she finds out the true nature of what happened to Jared she knows she has to do whatever she can to make sure he doesn’t read that email. Even if it means. trek down south of the border.
What We Think: Man. Netflix is so hit or miss in every film they choose to distribute. This one that’s just unmemorable. I am a huge fan of Nasim Pedrad. I think she’s gorgeous, funny and brings a certain charisma to her roles. Having said that this script isn’t great. There’s talent everywhere in this thing but LP isn’t the person to guide it here. It’s just not a great option if you’re looking for a RomCom on Netflix. I can give you 45,607 other choices.
Our Grade: C-, It is a harmless and mediocre RomCom experience. If you want 2020’s best in that category look to Palm Springs instead. I’m certain this is one of those films that will definitely fade away as time passes. It’s not bad enough to be remembered for that. Trust me, we’ll get to a film that is. It also is not good. It’s mediocrity a hallmark of around 60% of what Netflix is bringing into our homes. By no means a recommend this one will be about the audience member themselves…as for me. It’s a no for me dawg
