Title: Onward
Rating: PG

What It Is: Two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on a journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.

What We Think: Let me start off by saying that I can’t say this Pixar film is my absolute favorite one to date, but I can say that I absolutely loved it and it’s one of my absolute favorites from Pixar! Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who is a big Pixar fan. In certain ways the storyline was relatable, the animation was incredible, and this film showcases real-life scenarios which I think anyone aged 16 and over would relate to regardless of gender, ethnicity, etc. However, does this really shock anyone? Something I loved about this particular film was the concept of magical beings growing up like “normal” teenagers in society. It was definitely a fun twist on an animated film where there is a strong emphasis on magic. There are also quite a few lessons in regard to growing up which I feel are important for a lot of kids and teenagers to learn. Almost every person I have met knows what it’s like to not feel good enough or to want to be “more” than what you already are. I also know too many individuals who definitely felt or even still feel behind when it comes to their confidence in social situations. With all that being said, this one is definitely a must in my book.

Our Grade: A, A fun and relatable film which I believe anyone would enjoy watching regardless of their age or gender. It’s funny, adventurous, and in my opinion, a movie for almost everyone!
