Title: HARLEY QUINN: BIRDS OF PREY
Rating: R
Director: Cathy Yan
Starring: Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Ewan McGregor
Runtime: 1 hr 49 mins

What It Is: It’s open season on Harley Quinn (Robbie) when her explosive breakup with the Joker puts a big fat target on her back. Unprotected and on the run, Quinn faces the wrath of narcissistic crime boss Black Mask (McGregor), his right-hand man, Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina), and every other thug in the city. But things soon even out for Harley when she becomes unexpected allies with three deadly women — Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Smollett-Bell) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez).

What We Think: Definitely packed with sarcasm and kickass women! Prior to seeing this movie, I was cautious because I personally have never seen Suicide Squad and if I am, to be honest, I still have no desire to watch it. Because of this, I was unsure if one had to watch that movie before they saw this movie. I heard a bunch of no’s from different people including my coworkers and I happen to work in a movie theatre. I have to admit, I disagree with them. I am not saying that a person has to watch the entire movie, but what I would do is at least watch clips of Harley Quinn’s character from Suicide Squad on YouTube, because admittedly, it will help to understand and follow this movie a lot better. You really have to know who Harley Quinn is and in my opinion, that movie introduced this character better than this movie did. With that being said, I loved that she is still a tough badass chick with a colorful and playful wardrobe combined with a devil may care attitude.

Our Grade: A, This is a funny and colorful film for many who are big fans of Margot Robbie and Harley Quinn. However, forewarning to anyone wanting to take their kids to see this film, there is a lot of swearing but what do you expect with the character of Harley Quinn.
