Title: Always Be My Maybe
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Nahnatchka Khan
Starring: Ali Wong, Randall Park, Keanu Reeves
Runtime: 1 hr 41 mins

What It Is: Sasha (Wong) and Marcus (Randall) are inseparable as friends. From childhood, all the way up to their formative teenage years, even through the death of Marcus’ mother who was a mother to them both. That is until something breaks that bond. Now their lives have gone in totally different directions. Marcus is an HVAC technician like his father…along with leading a struggling band. Sasha is a famous celebrity chef. When they run into one another suddenly the lives they’ve lived feel incomplete because they are not in it with each other.

What We Think: Yo. So my RomCom loving behind was COMPLETELY enthralled by this. It is SO damn charming. Ali Wong and Randall Park have so much chemistry they could change the periodic table. Not only is this film hilarious but there are points in this when it seems like the script…and whatever improv was occurring are operating on a different level. I liked what Khan did behind the lens. Simple and effective direction. Keanu proves he can make fun of himself and was…to quote the man himself EXCELLENT!

Our Grade: A-, So while continues to be hit or miss (see my The Perfect Date review) with its romantic comedies there can be no doubt they absolutely nailed it here. So finding the film and watching it will prove easy given it is a Netflix film and can thusly be found on the platform. Do I recommend it? Did you read anything I just read? Yes, obviously of course I do. See this one immediately! Netflix has a habit of being ridiculously inconsistent over the years. When they get this type of film right, as they do here, it’s a fun thing to watch.
