We are looking so forward to once again covering the wonderful Fantasia Fest. But what films have caught our attention? Some are films we missed earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival some are films we’ve never heard of before doing our research. With that said myself, and the extremely talented Chai and Melissa will be covering the festival. But what films are we looking forward to? Here’s a couple of our choices:
A Good Woman is Hard to Find
When I asked Mel what films she was excited about this film from the U.K. stood out to me. The synopsis is as follows “A recently widowed young mother will go to any lengths to protect her children as she seeks the truth behind her husband’s murder.” I’m sold! Sounds like a compelling thriller we will see how this goes.
Koko-Di Koko-Da
When I asked Chai about this film at Sundance this was one she was sad to have missed. This one is supposed to be about: A couple goes on a trip to find their way back to each other, a sideshow artist and his shady entourage emerge from the woods, terrorizing them, luring them deeper into a maelstrom of psychological terror and humiliating slapstick. This movie looks weird as hell. Right in Chai’s wheelhouse.
The Lodge
Okay, so one of the films I was saddened I missed at Sundance is this film from directors Severin Fiala, and Veronika Franz. For this one we have the following synopsis: A soon-to-be stepmom is snowed in with her fiancé’s two children at a remote holiday village. Just as relations begin to thaw between the trio, some strange and frightening events take place.
Riot Girls
When I was sent the list of films playing at Fantasia Festival I immediately struck by the title and content of this film. In an alternate 1995, a mysterious disease has wiped out all of the adults. In this new age, two gangs are pitted against each other in a brutal war for territory, resources, and survival. Yes, that sounds awesome! Count me in!
Here’s a list of some of the other films we’re psyched to cover: American Fighter, The Art of Self-Defense, Astronaut, Jessica Forever, Kingdom, We Are Little Zombies, Porno
Be sure to keep it here for all of our coverage of the 2019 Fantasia Festival.
