Title: Spider-Man: Far From Home

What It Is: Spider-Man (Holland) is back following the actions in Avengers: Endgame. As he reacclimates into society he and his classmates are taking a “science” trip to Europe. Simultaneously a mystery man has taken to saving the day across the world. This “Mysterio” (Gyllenhaal) is battling literal Titans, and all the while Peter has a plan for romancing MJ in Europe. But that whole, you know, being a superhero seems to be getting in the way, but can we trust this new stranger?

What We Think: Yeah. It’s a good film to be sure. It does one thing narratively that I completely hated. I won’t go into detail because…spoilers. If you wanna talk about it more tweet me or DM me on Instagram. Tom Holland once again shows that he might just be the best actor to ever dawn the Spidey suit. He projects the pathos of the character so well. That main struggle between wanting to be a regular teenager and understanding the vast nature of the undertaking in front of him. The level of responsibility and expectations now thrust upon him by Tony Stark. Gyllenhaal is great. He’s such a talented actor that he can get anything, including Mysterio, over.

Our Grade: B+, This is the best Marvel film since Thor: Ragnarok. The film is funny, smart and visually interesting. Not to mention beautiful. Obviously, this is a huge recommendation. How can it not be? I think there’s going to be something said about films that have to follow in the shadow of Avengers: Endgame. Having those hints of Tony Stark in the film gave a big amount of pathos to Spidey. Tony was the surrogate for Uncle Ben and now even he’s gone. The post-credit scene is good even if it is KIND OF a giant plot hole.
