Title: A Good Woman Is Hard To Find
Rating: N/A
Director: Abner Pastoll
Starring: Sarah Bolger, Edward Hogg, Andrew Simpson
Runtime: 1 hr 37 mins

What is it: A recently widowed young mother will go to any lengths to protect her children as she seeks the truth behind her husband’s murder.

What we think: Interesting, gut-wrenching, and psychologically riveting. This film really makes you start questioning the human psyche. The only part of this film which I wasn’t too thrilled with was the pacing seeing that this film is a bit on the slow side. However, I feel the psychological aspect made up for that or at least it did for me. There are parts of this film which makes you reassess the concept of morality and really makes you start to redefine the concept of good and bad depending on life circumstances. Something I did not expect from this film was how relatable the main character is. Sarah, who is a single mother appearing to be jobless raising two kids, unfortunately, lets people walk all over her until life throws her a major curveball and forces her to step up and finally stand up for herself. Something I know quite a few can relate to including myself. With that said, something that would have been nice to see is possible scenes with Sarah and her husband and possibly some scenes with her husband interacting with their children as well. One thing I really enjoyed was Sarah Bolger’s performance in this movie. Despite that I admittedly don’t find this role her best one yet, it was nice to see her play a part that was a bit grittier than other characters she has played in the past.

Our grade: B, This is a film which may bring some surprises to those who watch it. This film also includes a particular scene that is not easy to stomach when watching. However, definitely, a film which is intriguing, to say the least. Thanks to Fantasia 2019 for letting us watch this film.
