Title: Teen Titans Go! To the Movies

What It Is: The Teen Titans are a group of young superheroes who defend and protect the people of earth. However, they are not taken seriously by any of the other superheroes due to their “immature” way of handling their villains. The Titans ignore these claims until they have a realization that ever “serious” superhero has their own movie–– except them. Now with the quest to prove everyone wrong, The Teen Titans go on an adventure to get their own movie while fighting bad guys, singing songs, and discovering the true meaning of being a real superhero.

What We Think?: This movie is based on the DC cartoon tv series on Cartoon Network Teen Titans Go! which is based off the original tv show and comic series Teen Titans. Now for a movie based off a television show, I had my doubts. When shows are adapted into movies, many of the elements that make the show so great become lost, audience members who never seen the show might be confused or miss 90% of the jokes/references, or worst yet– source material is changed entirely just to fit the “movie style.” However, for this movie, none of those significant issues were present. Viewers who have not seen the show or heard of the Teen Titans, it is not too much of a problem, but one or two jokes may be confusing or odd. Viewers who watch the show would love the loyalty to the source material. Even with some inside jokes for fans, the overall movie is filled with great jokes, colorful plus fun animation, and upbeat inspirational songs about life. All the voice acting is terrific, the original songs are fantastic and add to the story, and the entire movie has the audience invested from beginning to end.

Grade: B+, This movie was a total surprise on how great it actually was. This seemed like the typical children’s movie filled with potty humor, puns, and typical storyline. However, this movie did an entire 180 as it proved to audiences that it was a well-written and thought out the film that really showed effort and talent. Now, it does not mean there were not one or two butt jokes, but they are easily passible as the rest of the movie speaks for itself. This movie is the kick in the pants the family genre needed.
