What It Is: Erica Vandross (Deutch) is 17-years old. She’s a bit of a scoundrel in that she’s earning money to bail her father out by blackmailing men for money after she performs fellatio on them. When she finds a new mark for her scheme it’s the “hot old guy” in town Will (Adam Scott) when something unexpected happens Erica and her new step-brother Luke (Joey Morgan) have a bit of a problem on their hands. One they might not be prepared to deal with.

What We Think: Narratively this one takes a turn for the worst in the third act. Some things happen that don’t REALLY make any sense. Characters do things that don’t really seem realistic. Winkler behind the lens is fine. Nothing really to write home about. Deutch is good enough though her character gets really irritating, even with her character arc. Adam Scott is normally really funny even in something like The Overnight his deadpan delivery is killer. Here though this dude is straight wasted. There’s nothing spectacular going on here and in fact, the film is enigmatic in that I had no idea what it was prior. Having seen it I’m still not sure whatever it was is clear.

Our Grade: C-, It’s all so meh. Nothing felt real, or ordinary. Given that the film tries to place itself within the constructs of the real world t just doesn’t work. There’s something to be taken out of this but whatever it is I didn’t enjoy it. I can’t really recommend this very highly as there just really isn’t much to enjoy. That said this IS just your friendly neighborhood snob speaking here. If you dig the trailer give it a watch but heed my warning.
