Title: A Quiet Place

What It Is: Monsters roam the earth. Monsters who are blind and can be set off and find you by the slightest of noises. Now Lee (Krasinski) and his expectant wife Evelyn (Blunt) live in total silence with they’re three children Regan (Simmonds), Marcus and Beau. When something tragic happens to Beau the family is devastated. Regan blames herself and thinks her father no longer loves her because of the part she played in the events that happen to Beau. The monsters are closing in and the birth of baby four approaches. Noise is imminent, but what can the family do with their silence soon to be broken?

What We Think: Krasinski is crafting some straight up brilliance. This is Jim from the office? He is doing some amazing work. This film is well-acted. His performance in from of the camera not quite as good as his performance behind it. Emily Blunt is an amazing actress and working with her husband offered a new and exciting opportunity. One she seemed to embrace. Millicent Simmonds once again as she did in Wonderstruck brings her A game. She’s a fantastic young actress. For its budget, it also looks really good when we talk about the CGI creatures. It’s tense and well-written, leaving you breathless at points and ironically speechless in others.

Our Grade: A-, This is how a horror-thriller should be made. Grabbing me from the very start and keeping me the entire time. The use of silence is unlike most anything I’ve seen in this genres offerings and technically speaking I think it provides the audience with enough scares without having the music give away the big moments. You can nitpick that the ending is a bit too “safe” but honestly it hits home enough to leave the audience happy. I cannot do much more to recommend you see this one. So go freaking do it already.
