What It Is: Going In Style follows a couple life long friends, Willie (Freeman), Albert (Arkin) and Joe (Caine) going down the criminal road of robbing banks when their pension funds become erased. They are all willing to do what they need to do to pay bills and even to the extent of robbing banks.

What We Think: Going In Style is a fun time. Saying that it does have its flaws but for the most part, it’s a harmless comedy that’s fun right from the beginning. The concept feels really over the top but is defiantly fun to see it go down and fall into place. Freeman, Caine, and Arkin nail their roles and it’s a blast to see them goof off and rob a bank. The movie does suffer some cliche troupes like one character has a disease and the other is in a developing relationship.

The pacing is fast for the most part but does slow down when it goes into more of a deep drama the light hearted comedy. This movie does have a lot of jokes and while a good amount of them hit, there are a couple of them that don’t land and come off as awkward or unneeded.

Our Grade: B-, Thi film is maybe a one or two-time watch and is far from original but is a fun time nevertheless. It boasts a great cast that all do a good job but suffers from said cliches and troupes. I’d recommend it to anybody who wants a fast, some-what forgettable comedy.
