Title: Logan
MPAA Rating: R
Director: James Mangold
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen
Runtime: 2 hr 21 mins

What It Is: Logan (Jackman) is a retired, tired and old X-Men. Now driving a limousine to make ends meet he lives out of a broken down camp. Next door he has a fallen water tower in which he’s storing an octogenarian Professor Xavier (Stewart). With help from Caliban (Stephen Merchant), they’re just trying to live life. When a strange little girl named Laura (Keen) enters the picture there’s something oddly familiar about her. Logan who is initially non-plussed by that situation is eventually compelled to help her get to some sort of haven located in Southern Canada somewhere.

What We Think: Not only is there a real grit to the cinematography, but there’s a grit to Wolverine this time that only time could create. He’s a grump, well grumpy than normal. Huge Jackman is playing the Wolverine for the very last time. That is a sad thing to see but I’m so very glad this is the film he went out on. He’s pitch perfect and the narrative told wraps everything up perfectly. Dafne Keen as Laura is great and you really end up loving her as a character. I also really appreciate that they took the R-rating seriously. Like they really did. We’re talking blood everywhere and cursing when needed. Not in excess and not at the hinderance of the story. Just well done.

Our Grade: A, So far one of my favorite films of 2017 and one I think everyone really needs to see. Even if you’re not a fan of the X-Men series or the characters previous films this is an excellent film. You don’t even need to both check out the previous two Wolverine films to be “caught up” go into this open-minded and you’ll leave, I think, completely satisfied. So with that said I am giving this a glowing recommendation, for sure!
