Title: Storks

What It Is: Storks have always been known for delivering babies to the couples of the world. When a rogue Stork takes a baby as his own they decide that perhaps a change in strategy is in order. Now they deliver packages all around the world. Now the baby that was left behind is older and she’s causing issues. Hunter (Grammer) the big boss has put Junior (Samberg) to the task of getting rid of her. This young girl they named Tulip (Crown) is put in charge of the letter service, which no longer works. When a little boy sends a letter it is received by Tulip and that’s when disaster strikes.

What We Think: I have to give WAG (Warner Animation Group) some credit here. This is a studio who hadn’t put out a film since 2003 (Looney Tunes: Back in Action) and nothing fully animated since 2001’s Osmosis Jones. Both of which were not profitable. They made a comeback with The Lego Movie.
I can say now that they’re back! This film was enjoyable! I had fun watching this ridiculous premise work. Andy Samberg does a great job at voicing this character and the arc he’s taken on is interesting enough. There are genuine moments within the film that are emotional and earned and the ending was fitting and felt just right.

Our Grade: B-, Not in the same league as things like Kubo and the Two Strings or Zootopia. It is instead in line with good animated films like Finding Dory and Trolls. It has been a good year for animation. I wish the animation was just a tad crisper than it was. Likewise, there were a few story points where I said to myself “that was meh”. I will tell you though that you should see this. It does not say Pixar or Disney and I know that is a hard sell but you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to at least check this out. It’s a real treat.
