Title: Zootopia
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Byron Howard, Rich Moore, Jared Bush
Starring: Gennifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba
Runtime: 1 hr 48 mins

What It Is: When an ambitious young bunny by the name of Judy Hopps (Goodwin) dreams of doing something no bunny in all of her world has ever done… become a police officer. Most officers are larger animals such as elephants or in the case of police Cheif Bogo (Elba) Buffaloes. Well, this ambitious bunny did just that. Now she’s run into a sly fox named Nick Wilde. This fox and many predators like him may hold the key to Zootopia’s biggest mystery.

What We Think: Zootopia does so much stuff right. Not only do we just love most every character in this but the animation is crisp and colorful. Jason Bateman is perfectly cast as Nick the fox. From a comedic perspective, this is a very funny movie. There’s a scene involving sloths, a couple in the fact that are just downright hilarious. One could accuse this of having too many cooks in the kitchen, what with three directors. This, however, is not the case instead it is a lovingly crafted piece of animated hilarity.

Our Grade: A-, Disney is on a role with their animated features. Big Hero 6 was pretty good and Wreck-It Ralph was borderline revelatory in its originality. There’s something great about the characters in this feature and that above all else is ridiculously important. There’s not a truly bad character in the bunch. Let’s not even talk about that supporting cast. I’ll give you a hint here it’s real good! I’m going to go ahead and recommend you all check this out as soon as you can. It is simultaneously funny, and charming with enough humor to fit both the children and adults.
