Netflix Review: Daredevil Season 2

Title: Daredevil
Network: Netflix
Starring: Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Jon Bernthal

What It Is: Marvel’s blind defender is back for a second season of beating justice into the unjust of Hell’s Kitchen. As Matt Murdock (Cox) and his associate, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) are at first trying to free Frank Castle a.k.a The Punisher after he starts a one-sided war on three factions. Meanwhile, a mysterious hand is stretching its shadowy presence over Hell’s Kitchen. This has Daredevil upset and he wants to figure out what’s going on. He’ll beat in any face that he has to, including Castles. In addition, a familiar face in the form of Elektra shows up and this proves itself even more troublesome.

What We Think: Season 1 proved that perhaps Marvel isn’t all one-liners and terrible tv. In fact, many could argue it is the single best season of superhero TV to ever hit the airwaves. In this sequel season, there is so much to like. First and foremost Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle was absolutely killer casting. Not only does he portray the struggle Castle is going through but he emotes it just so subtlely. Charlie Cox continues to fire on all cylinders as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. They seem to have gotten the right guy here.

Our Grade: A-, While not as good as the previous season there is a great through line here. I think the acting as a whole stepped up. From the writing side there’ enough to keep you compelled even if things start getting a bit muddled. Whatever the plan is for The Defenders on Netflix it’s quite obvious that both Jessica Jones S:2 and Iron Fist in its first season have their work cut out for them. Definitely, check out this show if you haven’t! The best part is…no waiting! You can watch all 25 episodes in a glorious binge! Thank you Netflix for bringing this beautiful blind justice to our TV, tablet and phone screens once again.
