Title: Fantastic Four

What It Is: When a gifted young man named Reed Richards (Teller) is asked to assist the reknowed Dr. Franklin Storm (Reg E. Cathey) with an inter-dimensional transport system he’s developing. He’ll be assisted by gifted scientist Victor Domashev (Toby Kebbell) as well as Storms own childern Susan (Mara) and Johnny (Jordan). When initial testing is successful they’re being told astronauts will take the voyage in the other dimension. This news doesn’t sit well with any of the young folks involved. Instead of waiting for that to happen they trek out on their own to voyage the unknown. When disaster strikes however Johnny, Victor, Reed and  his best friend Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) will forever be changed.

What We Think: Messy would certainly be an operative word. You can tell here that this is above all else an incomplete film. That perhaps the rumors about the film were correct. Studio tampering is to blame for a film that gets to a certain point before it begins to feel rushed to it’s conclusion. Almost as if the filmmakers just wanted to end the film quickly so that they could possibly recoup more of the money back. From an acting perspective this film falls flat in every conceivable way, you’d think with the acting talent this film has it would feature more believable moments sadly that isn’t the case.

Our Grade: D, It’s the not worst movie I’ve seen all year, but it’s damn near the worst. It is the worst half movie I’ve seen. In fact it’s the only half movie I’ve seen all year. Do not go see this movie! I implore you to spend your money on any other film that has opened this or any other week. This misstep won’t affect the actors themselves as two of the cast have boxing films coming out still in 2015 (Teller and Jordan respectively) Kate Mara is always good, and Jamie Bell has been a decent actor since Billy Elliott way back when. In closing this is not good don’t see it!
