Title: Avengers: Age of Ultron

What It Is: Marvel’s Cinematic Universe gets another entry from its star-studded cache of superhumanity. In this particular installment, our heroes are faced with an enemy created by their very own hands. As fears of dying on the battlefield plague Tony Stark (Downey), he and Dr.Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) create an A.I. that can help bring Starks Iron Legion to life. However, during the testing phase said intelligence becomes corrupted and the evil Ultron is born. Now the team must fight off Ultron and his two enhanced friends Pietro and Wanda Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Elizabeth Olsen) also known as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Will Ultron succeed in his takeover or will the Avengers assemble and stop their artificial enemy?

What We Think: This is a sequel that is much like the first one and rip-roaring good time at the movies. However, it is not nearly as fun. It has pacing issues that plague the movie throughout. Having said that this is still likely to be the most fun you have at the movies this summer. All the characters are there and we know enough about them now that building isn’t really an issue. Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Ultron are new characters though and their development was extremely stunted. This is due to those pacing issues I initially touched on. Some angles feel rushed, and undercooked, others give a sense of over-focus.

Our Grade: C-, It does some things the first one wouldn’t dare, but suffers from trying to fit in too much. It’s a sequel worthy of Marvel, but unfortunately, Captain America seems to be the only character to make a sequel that surpasses the first. If you’re looking to shut your brain off and enjoy hanging out with Marvel’s superhero squad this is as good a chance as any. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but then again it’s a wheel, Marvel, themselves helped create. Go see Age of Ultron on the biggest screen possible. That is where this film is best enjoyed.
